The City of San Gabriel ("City") manages approximately 8,000 trees located in parks, public grounds, medians and parkways. The Public Works Department oversees the care of this urban forest with the goals of extending tree life, ensuring public safety, enhancing community aesthetics, and promoting the environmental benefits of healthy trees. The City is seeking proposals from qualified contractors with proven experience in municipal tree maintenance. The selected contractor will support the City in delivering high-quality tree care services. Tree maintenance is currently performed by both in-house crews from the Parks Division and outside contractors, with most routine pruning handled by the latter. To meet insurance requirements set by the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (JPIA), the City must maintain a consistent pruning cycle to reduce liability risks from tree-related incidents. This Request for Proposals (RFP) aims to secure professional tree services that will supplement City operations and ensure cost-effective, reliable maintenance.
