Site work, paving and renovation of a mixed-use development in Berkeley, California. The City of Berkeley is soliciting invitations for bid (IFB) for the MLK Jr. Youth Services Center/Y.A.P. Seismic Retrofit and Renovation Project. The project involves the seismic retrofit, renovation, and expansion of the Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Services Center to modernize the recreation facility and achieve an Immediate Occupancy structural rating, enabling it to function as one of the City of Berkeley's designated Care and Shelter facilities. The scope includes renovating and expanding the existing single-story, wood-framed structure, along with upgrades to the interior, building code compliance, and accessibility enhancements. Key improvements consist of seismic strengthening, energy efficiency measures, tenant improvements, new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, upgraded finishes, and the installation of fire alarms and sprinklers. Site upgrades include, but are not limited to, grading, drainage, stormwater catchment, utility installations, paving, accessible ramps and walkways, bicycle parking, an ADA-compliant parking space, concrete curbs and sidewalks, fencing, gates, and tree removal and replacement.
