The Cottonwood Creek Phase 2 project will repair and stabilize approximately 4,500 linear feet of Cottonwood Creek starting around the Powers Blvd crossing and going west, downstream. The channel through this section has experienced increased erosion leading to downcutting leaving vertical banks along the reach. Improvements will return the creek back to a stable system reducing erosion and protecting adjacent infrastructure. The project is partially funded by a FEMA HMGP grant and the City of Colorado Springs Stormwater Enterprise (SWENT). Construction work will generally include temporary water diversions, grading, riprap placement, sheet pile installation, sculpted concrete drop structures, storm sewer pipes and manholes, revegetation and temporary irrigation systems.
