New Youth Detention Center The Department of Public Safety invites experienced design firms to submit qualifications to provide Advance Planning Phase, Design, Bidding, Construction Administration, and Closeout services for the Division of Juvenile Justice's "New Youth Detention Center" project. As part of the Advance Planning Phase effort, the design team will work with the Department to determine the best location for the new facility. The designer will also assist the owner with the evaluation of potential sites. The State Property Office will handle the final closing once the final site has been selected. This project consists of an approximately 34,000 SF Youth Detention Center with all necessary site work and infrastructure. Programmatic spaces include 48 youth bedrooms, classroom areas, gymnasium, kitchen/dining facilities, clinical space, administrative offices, vocational space, visitation center, and related support spaces. Building configuration to be developed using owner's programmatic requirements with dormitory areas being apportioned into four secure 12 bed pods. Required design services include submittal to the State Construction Office's Design Review Section for Advance Planning Phase, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents, Cost Estimates updated at each phase with each SCO submittal, bidding services, construction administration services, record drawings in AutoCAD (latest version), and project closeout as defined by the State Construction Manual (Twelfth Ed.) dated March of 2019.
