McDuffie County is currently seeking sealed bids for improvements at the Thomson-McDuffie County Animal Shelter located at 802 Whiteoak Road, Thomson, Georgia 30824. Listed below are items to be included within the bid: CONCRETE PAD: - Prep & pour concrete pad - 40' x 24' x 4' - Slope concrete towards rear of pens - Create trough drain at rear of pad using concrete forms, slope towards septic or runoff area - Connect drain to septic system - Seal concrete using heavy-duty or industrial strength sealant - If fiber is used, burn fiber on surface ROOF COVERING (POLE BARN): - Create new roof above concrete pad matching the building roofline, prioritizing cleanable materials such as plastic or metal - Extend roofline at least 2' past concrete pad on all non-building sides for drainage purposes - Attach roof to building or layer above to create proper drainage - Gravel areas under roof eaves to mitigate precipitation runoff KENNEL CONSTRUCTION: - Purchase and assemble kennels according to manufacturer's instruction atop concrete pad outlined above - size must be no smaller than 4Wx5Dx6H and no larger than 8Wx8Dx6H. - Aspire to add at least 1-2 double-sided kennels. - Affix kennels to concrete floor using anchors to at least 1" depth Additional Requirements: - Slope shall be defined as one-quarter inch drop for every foot of length. Roof slope not to drop below 1/2:12 for metal roof and 2:12 for shingles. Rear wall of trough drain must be higher than pad to catch overflow.
