Demolition, site work and paving for a mixed-use development in West Palm Beach, Florida. Completed plans call for the demolition of a playground / park / athletic field; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; for paving for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The City of West Palm Beach is accepting bids from qualified and responsible Contractors for the demolition and removal of the existing pier and construction of a replacement pier within the Brian H. Chappell Park. Funds for this Project are derived from a state of Florida, Florida Inland Navigation District Assistance Program grant (No. PB-WPB-24-234) and therefore the successful Contractor must comply with grant requirements. Bid Bond Yes M/WBE's are encouraged to participate in the bid process. The City of West Palm Beach (City) is accepting bids from qualified, experienced and responsible Contractors to assume full responsibility to complete the work according to the construction drawings which include demolition and removal of the existing pier and construction of a replacement pier (piling, deck and railing) located within Brian H. Chappell Park. Funds for this Project are derived from a state of Florida, Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) Assistance Program grant (No. PB-WPB-24-234) and therefore the successful Contractor must comply with grant requirements. Contractor shall furnish and assume full responsibility for all labor (including costs for supervision overtime, nights, weekends, holiday and multiple phasing work), materials, equipment, machinery, tools, transportation, delivery, disposal of waste and surplus material, appliances, fuel, power, light, telephone, water, sanitary facilities, temporary facilities and all other appurtenances and incidentals necessary for the furnishing, performance, testing, servicing, taxes, bonds and insurance, permitting fees, traffic control, security, miscellaneous costs, warranties, general conditions, overhead and profit start-up and successful completion of the Work as shown on the construction drawings and associated technical specifications. The estimated Project amount is $572,596 Brian H. Chappell Park (Park) is named for fallen motorcycle officer Brian Heywood Chappell killed in the line of duty in the City of West Palm Beach. This pretty and peaceful park is on the intracoastal waterway and includes benches, a fishing pier, and a playground. The Park is mainly used for fishing off the existing pier and manatee spotting in the winter. The Pier improvements bring prosperity to the stakeholders using the fishing pier for food and educational purposes. This also allows for educational opportunities to learn how to preserve the ocean while fishing. The Project shall consist of demolition of the existing pier and construction of a replacement pier (piling, deck and railing) on the footprint of the existing pier at the same location and same configuration at the Park to provide better opportunities for stakeholder users and fishing. The replacement of the pier includes foot access to a walkway that is 101.37 feet by 10.33 feet, with a platform of 43.17 feet by 12.25 feet. The City has received an exemption dated June 8, 2023 from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to construct the new pier, Attachment I.
