Through this RFP, the City aims to identify a company (Company) that will provide cleaning and maintenance services to the City of Santa Ana, through scheduled and as-needed visits, to all existing and future bus shelters and bus stops including all associated street furniture. Cleaning services include the cleaning of sidewalks surrounding bus shelters and bus stops, emptying trash receptacles, graffiti removal, disinfecting and power washing at bus shelters and bus stops. Maintenance services include the installation and removal of city-provided bus shelters and street furniture, as well as painting and repairing bus shelters and street furniture when required. The City's ultimate objective is to not only provide shade, safety, and comfort to transit riders and pedestrians but to also improve the quality of life, for those who live, work, and visit the City, by delivering these Services through thoughtful and efficient route planning. The core of this objective is the effort to assist in realizing the City's vision to expand the use of transit, active transportation, and shared mobility. Nature of Work: The requested Services require physical effort, attention to detail, and sometimes working early mornings or late nights to avoid disrupting commuters. The cleaning includes sweeping and removing dirt, leaves, and debris, washing windows and panels to remove smudges and dirt, wiping down seating areas and railings, graffiti removal, power washing, and sanitizing high-contact surfaces. The work also includes picking up litter around the bus shelters and bus stops and nearby areas, emptying trash receptacles and hauling trash to City Yard, and replacing liners in trash receptacles. The maintenance requires painting and repairs to ensure functional, safe and esthetically pleasing shelters and street furniture. It also requires the occasional removal and installation of City-supplied bus shelters and street furniture. In addition, the work includes reporting, by the Company, to the City, any vandalized or damaged structures such as broken panels, loose bolts, or structural issues as soon as identified and also after completing the required repairs. Seasonal and weather-related tasks would also be required. They include, among other tasks, clearing leaves in autumn, cleaning after high winds, and clearing water pooling after heavy rain.
