Background The City of San Marino ("the City") is requesting proposals to provide collection, transportation and disposal of municipal solid waste; and the collection, transportation, processing and diversion of recyclable materials; and the collection, transportation, processing and diversion of yard trimmings, food scraps, and other materials for a ten (10) year period beginning June 1, 2025 and terminating June 30, 2035. The City has an existing contract with Athens Services (Athens), which the company has chosen to terminate as of May 30, 2025. The City recognizes that the timeframe for this RFP is compressed due to the unusual circumstances of needing to obtain a service provider to assume operations by June 1, 2025. The City believes that a fair, transparent RFP process is the best way to achieve a ten (10) year operating contract with terms and rates that best serve the City's ratepayers.
