Tap must be done by Reputable Co. with experience doing taps in Ductile or Cast Iron Pipe. If Main has existing Poly wrap on it then the tap must be installed thru a 3 wrap width of poly tape as to not damage the polywrap. Any accidental damage by excavation or other reason must be repaired properly, in accordance with AWWA standards and manufactures spec. Service line must be pressurized from street to inside of house at time of inspection Service must be a minimum Depth of 3 feet Schedule K copper required up to the shut-off valve from the main After shut-off valve to the house, material can be K copper or plastic CTS (rated 250+ psi) unless there is a meter pit outside. Then Sch K copper is required to minimum of2 foot outside of outlet side of Meter pit. Plastic stubs inside the meter pit are prohibited. This means K copper is required between the curbstop and meter pit. If plastic is used a tracer wire is required to be installed with the service line and secured tightly to it The tracer wire must be a minimum 16 gauge solid core wire (not stranded) The tracer wire also needs to be installed from the inside top of curb box down along service line and stub off at the wall. It is also accepted to stub Tracer wire out of ground at wall where service enters the premise. Tracer wire must be visible at time ofinspection. Because the shutoffis required to have flare fittings, a copper stub will need to be used to connect shut-off valve to a plastic service with a compression coupling Shut-offshall be brass quarter turn check 300 psi All New Meters are required to be in a Meter box outside within 10 feet ofthe curbstop. See details for Meter Box requirements elsewhere in the standards. Inside Meters are no longer accepted on new taps due to tightened leak standards, pandemic restrictions, and ease of access for meter maintenance. For existing inside meters with water service replacements, the meter may remain inside the house but must be located within 3 feet of entry point into the premise. If a backflow device or PRV is required, all devices must be installed after the meter. One curb box with a shut-off valve is required per living unit (For example: A two unit condo complex must have two separate shutoff valves outside) During and after curb box installation make sure shut-off valve remains in Center of Box A curbbox centering device must be installed with the curbbox and is specified on the Standards list Curbbox must be of all metal construction, no plastic. See Wyoming's Standards. Make sure there is plenty ofspace available for valve operation and a meter replacement Final elevation ofthe Curbbox top and Meter box top are at the discretion o fthe Homeowner and contractor collectively.
