The intersection of CSAH 6 (Mississippi Street NE) and 7th Street is currently a 4-way stop controlled intersection, located in the City of Fridley. Over the past several years, the intersection has experienced increased crashes rates. After reviewing the crash history/types and many improvement options, the project team has concluded that a compact roundabout is the preferred alternative. To assist with construction costs, the project team has applied through the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding solicitation. Based upon the cost vs. benefit analysis of the proposed improvement the project scored very well and was awarded approximately $1.M of federal funding. The project is included in the County 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of April 23, 2025, project is funded for FY2025, construction in June - August 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
