The Iowa DOT is seeking competitive bids for the removal and replacement of the exhaust system at the Fort maintenance garage as per the attached plans and specifications. The Iowa DOT bidding process is subject to the procedures and requirements established in Iowa Administrative Code 761--20. Work to be performed M-F 7:00 am - 3:30 pm CT, or as coordinated with site supervisor. Shipping Terms Deliveries shall be F.O.B Destination. Award - Cost and Other Factors It is the intent of the Iowa DOT to award the contract to the responsible bidder whose submission is the most advantageous to the Iowa DOT, cost and other factors considered. Other factors include, but are not limited to: meeting or exceeding mandatory requirements, proposed staffing, and meeting required time schedule. Other factors may also include a comprehensive review of bidders past work performance, and work capacity. Until a contract is awarded, the sole point of contact for this bid opportunity will be the Purchasing Agent listed in the event. All questions must be directed solely to the Purchasing Agent and will not be accepted after the Q&A Submissions Close Date. Bidders are strongly encouraged to submit all questions through the Q&A Board. Responses to questions will be posted on the Q&A Board. DOT Estimated start date: July 1, 2025 (Start date to be coordinated with the DOT Project Manager). This is an Iowa DOT Fiscal Year 2026 project, so the work must not begin prior to July 1, 2025. Estimated Completion Date: June 30, 2026 (This includes resolution to all punch list items, inspections and DOT final acceptance date typically used in construction bids). DOT Responsibility-Inspection and Supervision o All work shall be according to the approved design and shall be under the direct supervision of the Iowa DOT. o Periodic site inspections will be carried on by the Iowa DOT with the Contractor to ensure coordination of the project. o The Iowa DOT will provide a list of items requiring inspection prior to or during installation. The Contractor is to give the Iowa DOT notice no less than 24 hours in advance of installation. o The Iowa DOT point of contact after the contract award shall be determined. Payment and Completion of Contract Payments on contract will be made monthly by means of state warrants to the extent of Ninety-Five Percent (95%) of the value of work performed, including acceptable material stored at the building site, as determined by the Contractor as governed by the Iowa DOT. The Iowa Department of Transportation is a tax-exempt agency. Tax exemption certificates will be provided upon request. Davis-Bacon wages do not apply.
