Question Deadline 05/29/2025 at 8:00 AM CT Submit all questions, comments, exceptions, and suggestions to the Designated Point of Contact PATRICIA LAPRESTA plapresta@stlouiscountymo.gov SPECIFICATIONS 5.1.1 5.1.2 5.1.3 The design requirements for the flat sheet and extruded blanks will be as shown on the ATTACHMENT-B_DETAIL DRAWINGS C903.10 thru C903.70. Each flat sheet sign blank will be 0.080 inches thick. Sign blanks will be made from 6061-T6, 5052-H38 or 6063-T6 aluminum alloy with no retroreflective coatings. Sign blanks will be fabricated in a uniform and workmanlike manner. Signs blanks will be cut to size and shape and will be free of buckles, warps, dents, cockles, burrs, and defects resulting from fabrication. The surface of all sign blanks will be flat. 5.1.5 5.1.6 5.1.7 Sign blanks will be conversion coated as or equal to Alodized. All fabrication, including cutting and punching of holes will be completed prior to metal degreasing. Sign blanks will be degreased, etched, and dried using one of the following methods. 5.1.7.1 Degreasing 5.1.7.1.1 5.1.7.1.2 Vapor degreasing: By total immersion of the sign in a saturated vapor of trichloroethylene. Trademark printing should be removed with lacquer thinner or controlled alkaline cleaning system. Alkaline degreasing: By total immersion of the sign in a tank containing alkaline solutions, controlled and titrated to the solution manufacturer's specification. Immersion time will depend upon the amount of soil present and the gauge of the metal. Rinse thoroughly with running water. 5.1.7.2 Surface Preparation 5.1.7.3 Drying Acid etch: Etch well in a 6%-8 % phosphoric acid solution at 100 degrees Fahrenheit or proprietary acid etching solution. Rinse thoroughly with running cold water and may be followed with a hot water rinse. Alkaline etch: Etch well the pre-cleaned aluminum surface in an alkaline etching material that is controled by titration. Use time, temperature, and concentration specified by the solution manufacturer. Rinse thoroughly. Remove smut with an acidic, chromium compound type solution as specified by the solution manufacturer and then rinse thoroughly. 5.2.4.3.1 Drying: Dry panel by use of a forced hot air drier.
