Pavement markings for roadways Question Deadline 05/27/2025 at 12:00 PM ET Questions concerning this IFB must be submitted by email to Purchasing@Watertown-ma.gov The Contactor shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment required to furnish and apply thermoplastic traffic coatings, epoxy traffic coating, and water-based traffic paint. In general, this contract consists of restriping roadways at various locations with the City of Watertown as directed by the Department of Public Works (DPW). This includes grinding off existing striping materials, striping center line, edge lines, cross walks, stop lines, all lane graphics, such as arrows and lettering, with either new painted or thermoplastic lines and painting bus and bike lanes as directed by the DPW. A. The Contractor will furnish all labor, all material, all machinery, tools and equipment necessary for the satisfactory performance of this contract. B. The Contractor shall provide all equipment and all material, incidental material, protective devices and qualified personnel. Warning signs shall be in accordance with the DPW's standards as to size, shape, color and location for the safe and efficient performance of the work and safety of the traveling public. C. The lines shall be painted in accordance with the "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices" 1978, for application of reflective markings, as most recently amended. D. Materials used in this work shall be furnished by the Contractor and shall conform to the current Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges of the Massachusetts Highway Department, Sections: M7.01.07 Glass Beads and specifications contained herein. E. The Contractor shall apply traffic paint in strict accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations concerning coverage, thinning and film thickness. The Contractor must be equipped with both self-propelled paint lining machine for side streets and a truck mounted lining machine for use on multi-lane roads where rapid application is necessary. The use of these machines must meet with the approval of the DPW representative. F. Traffic paint shall be applied at the rate of 300 feet of 4" wide line per gallon and the beads at the rate of five (5) pounds to each gallon of paint applied. No thinner shall be used. G. The paint machine shall operate at the speed recommended by the manufacturer. In accordance with M.G.L. c30 39M, the City of Watertown is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to provide pavement markings for roadways. Qualified contractors are requested to submit their proposals to the Procurement Department, Watertown City Hall, 149 Main Street, Watertown, MA, in accordance with the instructions contained within this Invitation for Bids (IFB). The City of Watertown is seeking to award a one-year contract with two (2) additional one-year renewals,solely at the discretion of the City. The City will provide written confirmation of renewal at least sixty (60) days prior to the end of the contract period. Notice of this IFB is published in the Central Register (which is a weekly publication of the Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth), COMMBUYS (the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' electronic market center), the Boston Herald (a newspaper of general circulation), and posted on the City's website (Procurement | Watertown, MA).
