Renovation of an educational facility in Bakersfield, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Demolition of concrete and exterior opening, new structural and flatwork concrete, metal stud framing, interior and exterior plaster, interior and exterior painting. Pursuant to Public Contract Code section 20111.6, prequalification of the prime contractor (bidder), and of its mechanical, electrical, and plumbing ("MEP") subcontractors (C-4, C-7, C-10, C-16, C-20, C-34, C-36, C-38, C-42, C-43, and C-46), is required for the bidder to submit a bid on this project. Prospective bidders and their MEP subcontractors (1) are required to submit to the Owner a completed prequalification questionnaire and financial statement, on forms provided by the Owner, no later than ten business days prior to the date fixed for the public opening of sealed bids, and (2) must be announced as prequalified no later than five business days prior to the date fixed for the public opening of sealed bids. SELECTIVE DEMOLITION: 1. Provide all survey and layout required for work of this Bid Number/Bid Package, and layout of demolition of existing materials. This contractor is responsible for coordination of installation of work of this contract with all contract documents including but not limited to Architectural, Structural and Civil Drawings. 2. Provide sawcut and demolition of walls, doors/frames/hardware, concrete stairs/landing, rails, and flatwork where indicated. 3. Coordinate removal of plaster lath with Metal Studs/Lath and Plaster/Drywall contractor, leaving material as required to tie in new lath material at areas to be patched. 4. Provide temporary security wall of building basement and 1 st floor openings after removal of doors and/or windows. Security wall shall be constructed no less than 2x6 studs 12" o/c, 5/8" plywood reinforced with 16 ga sheet metal on the exterior to secure the entire opening. 5. All traffic control required for this scope shall be provided by this Bid Package 6. This Contractor is responsible for the removal of finishes, not shown on the plans to be removed, where necessary to install work of the project. Each Contractor that requires finishes to be removed for their work is responsible to provide layout of such to this Contractor. This Contractor is responsible to coordinate with all other trades. 7. This package must protect all existing facilities not noted to be removed. If the contractor damages or removes any facilities not noted to be removed, the contractor shall be responsible for the replacement or repair, of that item, to the condition prior to work by the contractor. 8. This Contractor is responsible to remove existing structures or appurtenances as required for installation of new work of this project, whether shown on the plans or not, unless specifically noted to be removed by others. This Contractor to coordinate with Lath/Plaster/Drywall/Metal Stud and Concrete contractors installing new work to confirm extent of demo. 9. Provide all required notifications, permits, etc for handling of hazardous materials per all applicable laws, regulations, and statutes. 10. Provide secure storage of demolished and/or hazardous materials until removed from site. ITEM 1 - BN 4666/STAIR REMOVAL SELECTIVE DEMOLITION AND BN 4667/STAIR REMOVAL CONCRETE: 1. Area of flatwork and sidewalk removal and replacement has been expanded per attachment labeled "CMC-01-Stair Removal". Area's shown in yellow shall be removed and replaced to the noted expansion joints. 2. Take care to protect existing communication vault, roof drain clean out utility boxes and any other utilities when removing and replacing concrete flatwork. Coordinate location of under walk roof drains with Colombo Construction's on-site Project Superintendent. Any damages shall be the sole responsibility of the Prime Contractor performing work. ITEM 2 - BN 4668/STAIR REMOVAL LATH, PLASTER, DRYWALL, & METAL STUDS AND BN 4669/STAIR REMOVAL PAINTING: 1. In addition to repairing and installing new plaster where stairs and landing are being removed, repair any hole left by the current handrails being removed. 2. Plaster the interior and exterior new concrete wall being installed to match existing adjacent surfaces.
