Renovation of a library in Wheaton, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
The Wheaton Public Library Rehabilitation project will repair and restore the Library's west plaza to provide outdoor experiences, including performances of art and culture, children's programs, outdoor theater, and a space for visitors to meet and collaborate or work independently. All questions, either administrative or technical, shall be submitted via email to Tony Sperkowski at asperkowski@wheaton.il.us no later than June 12, 2025, at 11:00 am (CST). Engineering and design for the renovation have been completed. Studio GC assisted the Wheaton Public Library in all planning phases. The following items will be included in the rehabilitation: Repairs and Restoration o Remove three (3) failed trench drains and adjacent concrete squares and provide new drainage and detention. o Tuckpoint and seal existing limestone panels along the plaza to remain. o Replace concrete squares. o Replace concrete stairs where rebar is exposed and rusted through, at the main plaza and at the building exit door. Provide new railings. o Replace cracked concrete banding, where indicated. o Replace cracked pavers with salvaged existing pavers. o Replace ADA tactile warnings with substitution. Enhancements - Provide a fabric shade system to protect west plaza users and events from sun and rain. -Provide exterior specialty lighting at the west library plaza for library events. - Provide new collapsible bollards. - Provide new bike rack area and bike repair station PN-23-G1365
