Demolition and site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Lethbridge, Alberta. Completed plans call for the demolition of a playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
The scope of this project includes the removal of all hazardous building materials as identified in the Attachment 2 - Hazardous Materials Assessment Report prepared by Sherlock Environmental Services. The removal of all hazardous materials is required to prepare the residence for demolition. The materials identified for removal that contain hazardous materials include: Drywall joint compound (identified areas) Plaster (identified areas) Mechanical insulation Caulking (kitchen window only) Vermiculite insulation (attic space) Mercury (main floor thermostat) Biological hazards (mold, waste) Physical hazards (to be identified during pre-bid walk through - ie. syringes, sharp objects) Abatement Contractor Services: The Abatement Contractor will be responsible for the complete removal of all identified hazardous materials in accordance with all regulatory requirements, and related amenities, as outlined in the RFQ document, attachments, contract, supplemental conditions and reports. A Hazardous Materials Report has been performed on this property for the City of Lethbridge, by Sherlock Environmental Services Ltd. (see Attachment 2) The scope of the Abatement Contractor Services wil include the following: 1. The supply of labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals necessary to carry out the Project. 2. The Abatement Contractor will be required to communicate with the City's Project Manager to coordinate al activities. 3. All site measurements, verification and confirmation of existing conditions. 4. Responsible for obtaining all required permits, permit compliance, conditions, notifications, coordination and inspection requirements. 5. Not compromise the structural integrity of the building in any way. If required, the City will procure a structural engineer to review any areas of concern and provide direction on temporary support measures as required. If in the opinion of the engineer it is that the structural integrity of the building has been compromised in any way, the contractor will be responsible for all remedial engineering and repairs. 6. Responsible for providing all lifts, scaffolding, ladders, shoring and equipment for the safe removal of materials including operator certification of the same. The Abatement Contractor is responsible for all permits and coordinating inspections required for the Abatement. 7. The bid pricing shall include all costs for fees, bonds, licenses, permits, cartage, storage, handling, disposal, equipment, labor and materials required for the safe abatement of all hazardous and biological materials, labour and materials that are not specified as provided by the City, and coordination of same, for the safe and complete delivery of the Project. 8. Provide one dedicated, site superintendent for the duration of the Project. If an alternate or replacement superintendent, foreman or lead hand is to provide backup supervision services when the site superintendent is away from site it must be approved by the City of Lethbridge Project Manager. The City retains the right to request personnel changes as or if required. 9. Provide temporary construction facilities as required for the duration of the Work (at the discretion of the abatement contractor). Existing on-site facilities wi l not be available to construction staff. 10. The City wil arrange and pay for the provision of temporary water on site. Temporary power (generator and fuel) wi l be the responsibility of the contractor if required. 11. On-site washrooms wil not be available. Portable washrooms will be the responsibility of the contractor. 12. Use due diligence to reasonably secure and protect the Place of Work, including construction equipment and materials. No equipment shall be left on-site overnight. Work to be conducted daily between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm. 13. If hazardous materials that are not identified above or in Attachment 2 - Hazardous Materials Report by Sherlock Environmental Services are found, the contractor shall notify the Consultant and Owner immediately. Removal of the hazardous materials shall not proceed without approved site instruction and change order documentation. 14. The contractor shall provide full access to all locations on site for the Owner and/or City appointed Consultant. The owner and/or consultant will be responsible for their own PPE unless any specialized equipment is required to access any space. Any such specialized equipment for such access will be supplied by the contractor as required and the Owner will compensate the contractor for use. 15. The contractor is responsible for any subcontractors required for any mechanical or electrical equipment/systems demolition required to complete their scope of work. 16. Provide verification that all hazardous materials have been disposed of in accordance to all applicable regulations, statutes and/or as required by the authority having jurisdiction. 17. Facilitate and coordinate all aspects of project residence turn-over at the completion of hazardous materials abatement and air quality testing/reporting within acceptable levels. This includes, but is not limited to City of Lethbridge engagement, verification, and documentation to ensure successful delivery of the facility to the City of Lethbridge. 18. Work with the City appointed consultant for air quality monitoring throughout abatement.
