The Work outlined in this Request for Tender is for the replacement of crossroad culverts including all necessary restorations within the road right-of-way, culvert end-treatments, localized ditching, dewatering, erosion and sediment control measures, restoration seeding and/or sod restoration, curb & guiderail replacements, and asphalt restorations. The City will require full removal and replacement of 52 culverts (Appendix B). Based on the amount of Work, it is anticipated that the Contractor may be required to mobilize multiple crews to complete the Work within the allowable Work schedule. The City Project Manager will provide a final list of working locations at the pre-construction meeting. For each culvert replacement the Contractor shall mobilize the appropriate labour and equipment necessary, based on the culvert size, condition of the surrounding environment, and to carry out the Works in an efficient manner, while imposing minimal impact to the roadway traffic users and the adjacent natural environment. A crossroad culvert replacement general detail sheet is provided in Appendix A. This detail illustrates the typical components of Work that are expected to be carried out by the Contractor. A general de-watering schematic is also provided. Appendix B provides a list of culvert locations. The City recommends that bidders visit the locations provided in the appendix as site conditions, culvert sizes, and depths may vary. The City reserves the right to add and/or delete culvert replacement locations at any time throughout the Contract.
