Structural and cosmetic repairs to columns and concrete slabs. Question Deadline: Wed Jul 9, 2025 3:00 PM (EDT) Documents can be obtained from Bids and Tenders - https://vpch.bidsandtenders.ca/Module/Tenders/en/Tender/Detail/a19026c3-8647-469c-959d-ff15c28264ff Installation of a new cold-applied elastomeric waterproofing system, complete with wear surface, over the existing concrete porch slabs. Perform all work in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines. .1 The Work consists of localized concrete slab repairs, wholesale installation of elastomeric waterproofing at the concrete slabs, localized brick masonry replacement, and HSS column repairs at 408 Rymal Rd E., Hamilton, ON L9B 2L1, at locations specified in the drawings. .2 The Work consists of the following: .1 Concrete porch slab repairs and wholesale waterproofing, including: .1 Route, clean, and seal cracks in the concrete porch slab surfaces at specified areas. The Contractoristo carry outsurface preparation and cleaning of concrete slab surface by sand blasting or as per manufacturer requirements. .2 Supply and install cold-applied elastomeric waterproofing membrane on the concrete slab surfaces including upturns, downturns, and terminations, in accordance with Section 07 14 16 and manufacturer requirements. .3 Contractor is to carry out localized topside or through-slab concrete repairs as required and approved by Consultant. .4 (Optional Item No. 1) Carry out a 1 ft. x 1 ft. exploratory opening in the concrete slab surface to expose underlying bearing soil for Consultant review. .5 (Optional Item No. 2) Inject polyurethane foam (ELASTOPOR LF 2050 by BASF or approved equivalent) to fill voids beneath concrete porch slab. Injection shall be performed through the slab as required to achieve full cavity infill and provide uniform support to the slab. All work shall be performed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and under controlled conditions to prevent slab displacement. a) Contractor to submit product data sheet for polyurethane foam product to Consultant for review and approval. .2 Column base and masonry cladding repairs, including: .1 Provide and install temporary shoring as required to support the brick masonry columnsto carry outspecified repairs. The contractorshallsubmitstamped shop drawings, prepared by a licensed professional engineer, to the Consultant for review and approval prior to installation. .2 Carry out localized removal and replacement of cracked, spalled, or deteriorated brick masonry units in accordance with Section 04 01 20. The replaced brick masonry units must match the existing brick masonry in color and texture. The Contractor shall quantify the areas requiring replacement and submit the estimated quantities to the Consultant for review and approval. .3 Remove and replace brick masonry units at identified column locations as required to expose and assess the as-built construction of the column and underlying structural components or as instructed by the Consultant. a) At locations with HSS columns clad with brick masonry: i) Remove and replace bottom three (3) courses of deteriorated brick masonry as per Clause 1.1.2.2.2. ii) Carefully remove a 2 ft x 2 ft section of the existing concrete porch slab adjacent to the base of the column. iii) Contractor is to saw cut the edges of the opening to a minimum depth of 3/4 ". iv) Thoroughly clean the area to expose the steel base plate and Hollow Structural Section (HSS) connection. v) Carry out cleaning and surface preparation of corroded steel columns and steel base plates using a wire brush. Apply zinc-rich corrosion resisting primer (Zinc Clad(R) R by Sherwin-Williams or approved equivalent) to the HSS and steel base plate. Contractor to submit product data sheet for primer product to Consultant for review and approval. vi) The Contractorshall fill the void between the brick masonry and the hollow structural section (HSS) using non-shrink cementitious mortar to ensure cladding stability. .4 At all columns identified on the Project Drawings, install minimum two (2) masonry weep holes at the column bases, at opposing elevations. .5 Carry out repointing of deteriorated mortar joints at brick masonry columns. The Contractor shall quantify the areas requiring repointing and submit the estimated quantities to the Consultant for review and approval. .3 Repair and clean all areas affected by the Work to the satisfaction of the Consultant. 3 The contractor will perform the work required by the specified work itemsin accordance with the approved construction schedule and as directed by the Consultant. Payment for this work will be made in conjunction with the regular progress draws. .4 The Owner reserves the right to enter into a contract for all, none, or part, of the Work.
