Tree Maintenance and Planting The Town of Randolph has received funding from two different granting entities for maintaining/refurbishing six (6) existing downtown street trees and for planting nine (9) new trees. The separate scopes of work detailed in this RFP have many common elements and the Town is seeking a qualified contractor to perform all of the work covered by both grants. The owner of the project is the Town of Randolph. The Town will assign an individual to be the main point of contact with the contractor. Care shall be taken to avoid damage to existing tree roots and may require use of an air spade. A new soil and compost mix (see specifications below) will be placed at each of six existing tree sites. Watering bags (Gator bag or an approved equal) will be placed at each tree. Each of the six existing trees will be assessed and pruned by a Certified Arborist. At sites with existing trees or stumps, they shall be removed completely, avoiding damage to adjacent sidewalk panels. Compacted soil and existing subbase material will be removed to a minimum depth of 2 feet and to 3 feet, if feasible, at each tree site. A new soil/compost mix (see Technical Specifications below) will be placed at each of the nine existing tree sites.
