Site work for a road / highway in Johnson, Vermont. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway.
This project is to repair or replace with more suitable alternative the utility pole at the rear of the Union Bank property on the bank of the Gihon River. The utility lines provide electric power to the core of the Village of Johnson, including critical facilities such as the wastewater treatment plant, municipal office, fire station, and municipal utility garages. (See Attachment A: Project Area and Photos) During the July 2024 flood, the Gihon River encroached on the pole, eroded the riverbank, and unearthed one of the four guidewires. Further erosion of the bank and/or dislodging of the remaining guidewires would have catastrophic impacts on the Village of Johnson. The selected firm will also identify all local, state, and federal permitting requirements (including stream alternation and floodplain permitting), and assist the village with securing such permits. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
