This project will upgrade the existing synthetic turf system. It will replace the current infill material and provide new synthetic carpet. The upgrade will match the specifications of the carpet and material utilized at Robertson Park field #3 and at the new turf field at Kelley Park. The existing synthetic turf field and infill will be removed and recycled. The sub-base will be inspected and a fine grad layer of stone, a shockpad and new synthetic turf will be installed. The existing synthetic turf is at the end of its useful service life. The anticipated service life for synthetic turf is ten years. The current infill used for this field has proven costly and difficult to maintain. Costs to add infill each year consist of around $25,000 for infill material and $1,650 for manpower and this is a sole source infill that is only made in Italy. The shockpad and new infill will be a Brock shockpad and Brockfill infill. With the installation of a shockpad, the G-max rating will not be solely dependent on the infill. This will also ensure that the turf field system at Lakelands will match the turf fields at both Robertson Park and Kelley Park. As of June 18, 2025, this project is included in the City's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
