The City of Maplewood is an inner-ring suburb of St. Louis, which comprises 1.5 square miles, and has a population of 8,269. The City's residential areas have diverse mix of housing - ranging from small, single-family homes to large apartment complexes. Maplewood is one of the most walkable municipalities in the region and is home to over 550 businesses in a wide range of areas, including industrial and manufacturing, large and small retail, professional services, restaurants, and car dealerships. The City of Maplewood reserves the right to reject any and all proposals received in response to this RFQ or to cancel the RFQ if it is in the best interest of the City of Maplewood to do so. Failure to furnish all information requested in this RFQ may disqualify the proposal. Maplewood's Special Business District, which includes Maplewood's Historic Downtown and a very vibrant part of South Big Bend, Sutton, and Manchester roads, has experienced a revitalization with an influx of restaurants, businesses, and shops. The Maplewood Richmond Heights High School, Early Childhood Center and a portion of the Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School are located within the City and children frequently walk to and from school. Maplewood also has numerous Metro bus stops throughout the City and supports two Metro Link stations. Firm should assist the City with identifying issues for consideration and help develop optimal solutions for the City and its decisionmakers to review with respect to the creation of an ADA Transition Plan. The Firm should provide recommendations and analysis on the following: 1. Public Engagement & Outreach - Assist the City in obtaining public input regarding ADA self-evaluation and prioritization. 2. Municipal Buildings & Parks - Identify and describe corrective measures at City Hall, the Maplewood Family Aquatic Center, Public Works facility, and city parks. 3. Sidewalks, Crosswalks & Traffic Signals - Identify physical obstacles in the public right of-way with respect to ADA requirements including curbs, sidewalks, driveways, crosswalks, and traffic signals. 4. Corrective Measures - Describe corrective measures and develop a schedule to remove barriers on public right-of-way, city owned buildings, and parks. The corrective measures should be prioritized based on proximity to frequently used areas, public transportation, schools, and other factors as determined through the self-evaluation & public input process.
