The purpose of this RFP is to solicit price proposals to provide design phase services for the replacement of the Abbott Street Lock Miter Gates which are located in Eastons Hugh Moore Park. The City of Easton does not have any plans or details for the gates so the successful firm will need to take measurements in the field in order to create drawings. It is the intent of the City that the replacement gates be the same design as the existing gates, however alternate design approaches may be submitted for consideration if there would be a good reason to make a change. The scope of work is anticipated to include but may not be limited to, the following: 1. Prepare design drawings to a level of detail that would be sufficient for public bidding 2. The City is taking the position that there will be no permitting for the project outside of local building permits so this should not be accounted for in the proposal 3. Proposers should expect to have 3 remote update meetings with the City. The lock is a functioning hydraulic lock that is able to raise and lower the mule-drawn canal boat during tour rides. This hydraulic capability is accomplished through the use of a drop gate at the entrance to the lock and a pair of miter gates on the exit side of the lock. The existing timber miter were installed in the 1980's and now need to be replaced as a result of a failure of the left gate. The City does not have any plans or specifications for the gates so interested firms will need to copy what is in the field in the creation of their plan set.
