Site work and paving for a civil project in Sikeston, Missouri. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The proposed work includes: removal of existing improvements, construction of a new precast prestressed\ concrete deck beam bridge, steel shell piling, pier caps, abutments, guard railing, asphalt overlay, and approaches as well as miscellaneous improvements. All labor used in the construction of this public improvement shall be paid a wage no less than the prevailing hourly rate of wages of work of a similar character in this locality as established by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (Federal Wage Rate), or state wage rate, whichever is higher. The City of Sikeston hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, religion, creed, sex, age, ancestry, or national origin in consideration for an award. Contractors and sub-contractors who sign a contract to work on public works project provide a 10-Hour OSHA construction safety program, or similar program approved by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, to be completed by their on-site employees with sixty (60) days of beginning work on the construction project. A certified or cashier check or a bid bond in the amount of 5% shall be submitted with each proposal. A DBE goal of Four ( 4 %) percent has been established for this project. All DBE=s must be certified and be listed in either the MoDOT DBE Directory or the MRCC DBE Directory. See Bidder Checklist Item 2. The City of Sikeston reserves the right to reject any or all bids. The project will be awarded to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder. No second tier subcontracting will be allowed on this project. The prime contractor must perform with his own forces at least 30 percent of the total contract amount. MoDOT and FHWA may make inspections of the work and that the contractor shall grant them access to all parts of the work. Representatives of MoDOT will make a final inspection on all projects, preferably at the same time as the local agency makes final inspection.
