SCOPE OF PROJECT The project consists of furnishing all material and constructing the following: 2,000 ft. of 4-inch to 8-inch water main Including all necessary appurtenances and restoration. The project must be substantially completed by December 12, 2025 with final completion by December 19, 2025. A bid bond, certified check, or cashier's check payable to Owosso Charter Township in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total price shall accompany each bid. This surety shall bind the bidder for a period of Sixty (60) days after the receipt of bids. Doc note: Drawings and specifications are available online or at the 3355 Evergreen Drive NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 office of Prein&Newhof after 5 PM, Monday June 23, 2025. Electronic drawings, specifications and bidding documents will be accessible/available only to those Bidders who are active members of the Prein&Newhof Plan Room. Bidder assumes sole risk for any project specifications and drawings, electronic or hard copy, obtained other than directly from Prein&Newhof. Hard copy drawings and specifications are available for the fee of $100.00 dollars. Prein&Newhof online members who want to purchase the hard copy of the drawings only, may do so for $30.00 dollars. A $15 dollar charge will be added to all mailed drawings and/or specifications. Fees are payable by cash or check only and are not refunded. All areas disturbed by construction operations must be reconstructed per the Drawings. Disturbed areas with no specific reconstruction plans must be restored to the original condition thereof as determined by the Engineer using information from drawings, surveys, and photographs or video when available. This work shall consist of installing water main and appurtenances in accordance with the plans, this special provision, AWWA, MDEQ, and the MDOT 2012 Standard Plans and Specifications. This shall include all labor, equipment, and materials to complete the work. For the protection of underground utilities and in conformance with Public Act 174 of 2013, the Contractor shall contract the Miss Dig system, Inc. by phone at 811 or 800-482-7171 or via the web at either elocate.missdig.org for single address or rte.missdig.org, a minimum of 3 business days prior to excavation, excluding weekends and holidays. The Department of Public Works can assist the Contractor in locating existing water service leads and mains. All removed valves and hydrants shall be salvaged and returned to the Department of Public Works. The Contractor shall contact the Engineer to schedule work interfering with existing water service. Temporary shut off of service shall be obtained from the Department of Public Services. A service charge of $1,000 will be required at time of permit application. This fee includes the minimum charge of $50 for 5,000 bulk gallons of water, plus additional charges of $10 per 1,000 gallons consumed in excess of the minimum quantity. Owosso Water System personnel will attach a water meter and RPZ backflow preventer to the hydrant for Contractor use. If the water meter and RPZ is returned in good operating condition, the Contractor will receive a $450 refund, less additional water consumed in excess of minimum quantity.
