The East Union Township Sewer Authority's (EUTSA) wastewatertreatment plant's (WWTP) two prefabricated steel treatment trains, each designed to treat 45,000gpd, are approximately 33 years old. Various areas throughout the two treatment trains are experiencing corrosion. This contract therefore requires each wastewater treatment train to be emptied, utilizing bypass operations, sand blasted clean for areas submerged in water in accordance with SSPCSP10, and for areas not submerged in water, in accordance with SSPC-SP6, disposing of accumulated material (to include sewage and biosolids), repair areas that are corroded with steel plates welded in place applying current national welding standards, applying primer coats (using Tnemec Prime Coat Series 61, or approved equal), followed by a finished twopart epoxy coat (using Tnemec Perma-Glaze Series G435, or Thorex Chemi-Tech EP 100% Solids Epoxy, or approved equal) to each interior unit process tank. After the sand blasting has been completed, but prior to the application of the primer coat, the engineer and/orthe inspector will evaluate the thickness of the steel plating in order to determine the areas that need repair (i.e., removal of the old plating, and the installation of new steel plating, via welding).
