Penny Weaver/The Intelligencer The Illinois Department of Transportation will close the intersection of Illinois 157 and Illinois 162 in Glen Carbon beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, weather permitting. According to an IDOT news release, “during the closure, traffic will not be permitted on Illinois 157 and Illinois 162 at the intersection. Both eastbound and westbound Illinois 162 will be closed, and neither will have access to Illinois 157.” Drivers heading northbound on Illinois 157 should take Interstate 55/70 westbound to Interstate 255 northbound to Interstate 270 eastbound to reconnect with Illinois 157. Drivers heading southbound on Illinois 157 should take Interstate 270 westbound to Interstate 255 southbound to Interstate 55/70 eastbound to reconnect with Illinois 157. Drivers heading westbound on Illinois 162 should take Illinois 159 northbound to Interstate 270 westbound to Interstate 255 southbound to reconnect with Illinois 162.
