ILDOT - 010 - Pavement Removal, Placement of Sub- Base, HMA Binder Course and Hma Surface Course, Drainage Structures Adjustment and Cleaning, Curb and Gutter Spot Repairs, Pavement Markings This work shall consist of removing and disposing the existing fence as shown in the Plans or otherwise directed by the Engineer. This work shall consist of furnishing and installing precast concrete parking blocks at the locations noted in the plans and/ or as directed by the Resident Engineer. The blocks shall be machine made with 3,500 psi concrete and reinforced with two #3 deformed steel bars. Dowel holes shall be cast in the block to receive two #6 deformed steel bar pins, 36" in length. The pins shall be driven through the holes provided in the parking blocks into the new asphalt surface, or through drilled holes in a concrete or asphalt surface. The pins are to be 1" below the top of the parking block to hold the parking block in place. The new pins and the drilling of the holes for the pins shall not be paid for separately but shall be considered included in this pay item. This work shall consist of the removal and the disposal of the parking blocks, at the locations shown in the plans, as supplemented herein, and as directed by the Engineer. The steel pins that anchor the existing parking blocks shall be pulled out and disposed of. This work shall consist of the complete removal and disposal of existing temporary concrete barrier according to the applicable portions of Section 202 and Section 704 of the Standard Specifications and as specified herein. This item shall consist of the disconnection and removal of the temporary wood poles and aerial cable installed to provide temporary connections for the existing lighting system and all associated apparatus and connections in accordance with the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction adopted April 1, 2016, Section 841 except as specified within. This item shall consist of furnishing all labor, equipment and materials necessary for the removal and disposal of the existing sheet pile wall as specified in the plans and as directed by the Engineer. The work shall be done in accordance with the applicable portions of Section 501 of the Standard Specifications. No specific information about the existing sheet piles that may be encountered is included. Walers, bracing, anchors and other structural components tied to the sheet piling may be encountered. When allowed by the Engineer, the Contractor may elect to cut off a portion of the sheet piles leaving the remainder in place. The sheet pile shall be removed to at least 2 feet below the proposed elevation of subgrade or finished surface. The Contractor shall exercise caution not to damage elements of existing structures, pavements or other items not specifically identified for removal. Any damage to the existing elements or adjacent utilities and/or properties is the responsibility of the Contractor and Contractor shall repair any such damage to the satisfaction of the Department and at no cost to the Department.
