The Municipality of Skagway (MOS) is requesting proposals to characterize current and future shore power needs, evaluate required infrastructure upgrades, and assess the feasibility of utilizing clean and sustainable energy resources to fully or partially meet demand for shore power at the Port of Skagway. All technical questions shall be in writing and directed to the Borough Manager at manager@skagway.org and contracts@skagway.org The proposed project would consist of: (1) a 100-foot-long, 10 foot-high reinforced concrete diversion dam; (2) a 0.5-acre impoundment with a normal surface elevation of approximately 1,160 feet above sea level; (3) a 12,300-foot-long, 2-footdiameter penstock buried within an access road; (4) a 40-foot-long, 40-foot-wide powerhouse housing two 3.5-megawatt two-jet Pelton turbines; (5) a 13,300-foot-long access road extending from the dam to tidewater at Burro Creek; (6) a 1,000-foot-long underground transmission line from powerhouse to tidewater; (7) a 2-mile-long submarine cable laid on the floor of Lynn Canal extending from tidewater to the Ore dock facility in Skagway; and (8) appurtenant facilities. The estimated annual generation of the Project would be 24,800 megawatt-hours.
