This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Orinda, California. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.

The City of Orinda passed a supplemental sales tax in 2020 to fund a variety of programs, including roads, drains, and wildfire prevention and mitigation. Residents in Orinda are encouraged to "Trim, Stack, Chip!" As in, remove fire fuels on their property in the form of tree limbs, brush, and other combustible organic material, and stack them alongside the curb. Then, request an appointment for the chipping service through the online request form. In 2021, the city purchased its own chipper equipment and box truck to haul the material off-site. For the past four years, the residents of Orinda have come to rely on the Measure R chipper program as a service akin to recycling and trash pick-up, as the program has grown in popularity and use. Estimated Project value is $150,000 with contract ending June 30th 2026 with city option to extend for 2 one year terms. Contractor will supply their own hand tools, ie, brooms, rakes, shovels, blowers etc. City to provide Truck and Chipper. The City of Orinda is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to provide chipping services for residential properties throughout the city as part of wildfire mitigation efforts. The objective is to safely and efficiently manage and reduce woody debris in compliance with environmental standards and local MOFD ordinances. The City of Orinda will provide a truck (including fuel) and chipper (including grease). All other tools must be supplied by the contractor. These objectives are detailed in the following tables, which outline the key work elements and what should be included in the proposal. Contractor must have current and valid C-27, C-49 or D-49. The City of Orinda manages pickup bookings through a software application. While familiarity with this product is not required, crews must be able to navigate, interpret, and upload data using the city's provided iPads, as this is how work orders are generated and how truck and chipper operators report most of their work. Basic training and initial software support will be provided. The City of Orinda will pay disposal fees; however, the vendor must provide copies of dump receipts with each monthly invoice. Work hours are primarily 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Friday. Please send questions to: Ross Volker, Maintenance and Facilities Superintendent rvolker@cityoforinda.org no later than one week prior to the due date (2:00 PM Wednesday, August 1, 2025).
