Renovation of a medical facility in Prince George, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

One traction elevator (Elevator #3, see Appendix A for Floorplan) is to be upgraded at University Hospital of Northern BC (UHN) in Prince George, BC. The purpose of this project is to upgrade the existing obsolete traction elevator and modernize it with current controls using current technology. Question Deadline 09/01/2025 Inquiries may be submitted in writing up to three (3) days prior to the RFQ closing Questions related to this bid are to be submitted through the Bidding System only by Submit a Question button for this specific bid opportunity. The project scope includes the following work. Unless noted otherwise, the successful Contractor is to supply and install all Work noted below: a) Evaluate the building structure and support. b) Evaluate building code, standards and regulations to meet AHJ requirements. c) Provide a hoarding plan that meets the fire life safety requirements during the construction duration. d) Determine elevator specifications, including size, capacity, speed, door configuration, and interior finishes. e) Secure the hoistway to prevent any unintended movement. f) Shut down the power supply to the old elevator and disconnect all associated systems. g) Install a new elevator controller in place of the existing one. Provide new drive, transformer, and controller-related cabling and connections. Replace the governor. h) Install a new brushed stainless-steel car operational panel with illuminated push buttons. i) Change the current guides and levelling system. Put in new car door restrictor and top of the car guard rails. j) Align and connect the mechanical systems to ensure proper functionality and stability. k) Connect and wire the electrical components of the elevator, including control systems, buttons, and emergency mechanisms. l) Inspect and repair car. Upgrade it with rail handrails, stainless steel panels, and new LED ceiling. Replace the in-car telephone, position indicator, emergency light and alarm bell. Set up a new voice announcer and in-car ventilation. m) In the elevator lobbies, renovate hall stations, hall station indicators, signage and markings, and hoistway access switches. Where damaged install new flooring, ceiling, and walls to match the existing condition. n) Perform testing to ensure that the elevator is functioning safely and efficiently. o) Any surfaces should be patched. p) Paint the machine room floor with two coats low VOC, good quality light grey paint. q) Dispose of any old materials. Construction to be planned to minimize the noise and disruption of ongoing hospital operations. This work is intended to be completed with the successful proponent acting as Prime Contractor, under WorkSafe BC regulations.
