Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in Washington, District of Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
Amtrak is initiating the procurement to select a design-build contractor to provide design-build services for the Washington Union Station DT Communication Hub (the Project), which will be delivered via the Design-Build method. The scope of this project is to provide design services for the construction of the DT Communications Room, known as the "DT Comm Room," situated on the western side of the station. Amtrak's RFP seeks a DT Comm room that is estimated to be a prefabricated 12-ft x 30- ft structure positioned above the West Loading Bay Ramp adjacent to Track 7. The room will feature electrical power and internal climate control capabilities and be water-resistant to power washing and potential pipework leaks. The design-builder contractor will design and construct the room to include new digital technology equipment, such as fiber panels, power racks, G540 racks, a UPS rack, server racks with VSS workstations, and a spare rack. Other construction elements to be further detailed in the Request for Qualifications Amtrak Digital Technology Group is looking to expand the network and communications infrastructure within Washington Union Station (WUS) to support the current and future needs of Amtrak's operations within the station. Interested firms should contact the Contracting Official, Ryan Kelly, at Ryan.Kelly.1@amtrak.com. Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to invite interested firms to submit their qualifications to perform the construction work. Firms shortlisted in the first step will be eligible to participate in the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage. The RFP package is scheduled to be released in October/November 2025 to shortlisted Firms.
