Renovation of an educational facility in Old Westbury, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

SP 1 (Solvent Cleaning): Removes visible oil, grease, dirt, soil, drawing compounds, and other contaminants using solvents, steam, or emulsifying agents. This is the first step in surface preparation. SSPC-SP 6 / NACE 3 (Commercial Blast Cleaning): Removes all visible rust, mill scale, and old coatings, with staining limited to no more than 33% of each unit area. SSPC-SP 10 / NACE 2 (Near-White Metal Blast Cleaning): Provides a higher degree of cleaning, with staining limited to no more than 5% of each unit area. This is often the requirement for immersion service or other severe conditions. SSPC-SP 11 (Power-Tool Cleaning to Bare Metal): Achieves a clean, bare-metal surface with power tools, though some rust may remain at the bottom of pits. This is suitable for less critical exposures where blasting is impractical. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Appropriate PPE must be worn, especially during surface preparation with abrasive blasting or when handling hazardous chemicals. Ventilation: Well-ventilated areas are required when working with paints and chemicals, as fumes can be hazardous. Hazardous materials: Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals must be consulted, and chemical-soaked rags must be properly disposed of. Provide protection for walkways and road overpass, single lane closure must meet DOT requirements. A Structural Engineer evaluation and signed sealed recombination is the responsibility and cost the bidder who is awarded. Please include this cost as line item in your bid breakdown. Area take offs of total square footage of work surfaces must be NOTED IN YOU BID and an overall SF Unit price provided, otherwise you bid will be disqualified. All finish / topcoat paints must be field applied in a prepared are adjacent to an existing area for final approval paint to painting topcoat.
