Site work for a civil project in Seabrook, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Work of the contract is for the Interior and Exterior Recoating of the Water Plant No. 2 Ground Storage Tank No. 2 as identified in the exhibit in these specifications, the replacement of the Ground Storage Tank roof, and the upsizing of the Water Plant No. 2 Equalizer Pipe between the two Ground Storage Tanks; located in northeast Clear Lake City at 4223 Manorfield Drive, Seabrook, Texas 77586. See Key Map No. 619G. The ground storage tank is an entirely welded steel water tank. Work shall also include items of the Water Well No. 7 as identified in the exhibit in these specifications, including the removal of the Boost Pump Auxiliary Motor and coating of the Air Stripper Fiberglass Tank; located in northeast Clear Lake City at 4002 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77058. See Key Map No. 618D. In general, this work consists of: 1. Installation of temporary sound walls including supervision, labor, materials, tools, equipment, and maintenance; around project site designed to withstand suitable wind loads and sealed by a qualified professional engineer licensed in the state of Texas. 2. Surface preparation of the interior surfaces of the one ground storage tank, including abrasive blasting to near-white metal cleanliness, and removal and surface preparation of the air vents; Coating of the wet interior surfaces including the wet interior piping, ladder, and air vents. 3. Surface preparation of the exterior surfaces of the Water Plant No. 2 Ground Storage Tank No. 2 including abrasive blasting to near-white metal cleanliness and 100 percent containment; Coating of the exterior surfaces including the riser pipe and roof hatch access manways, the air vents, and a non-skid coating on the roof of the tank. 4. Replacement of Water Plant No. 2 Ground Storage Tank No. 2's roof plates and rafters, sidewall attachment areas, center halo, fill line and attachment brackets, overflow structure, top section of interior ladder, and roof vents; and removal of power ventilators. 5. Removal and upsizing of Water Plant No. 2's 8-inch Ductile Iron Equalizer Pipe with 18-inch Ductile Iron Equalizer Pipe between Ground Storage Tanks including valves, fittings, and all appurtenances. 6. Installation of an additional access hatch above Water Plant No. 2 Ground Storage Tank No. 2's overflow system. 7. Installation of handrail systems to the exterior of Water Plant No. 2 Ground Storage Tank No. 2. 8. Replacement of Water Plant No. 2 Ground Storage Tank No. 1's water level gauge. 9. Surface preparation of the exterior surfaces of the Water Well No. 7 Fiberglass Air Stripper; Coating of the exterior surfaces to match site coatings. 10. Removal of Water Well No. 7 Auxiliary Booster Pump Motor. 11. Disinfection, site restoration to include sodding of disturbed areas, and site cleanup. C. Unscheduled Repair Work. 1. After thoroughly cleaning tank interior and preparing surfaces at structural member connections, the Engineer or her representative shall inspect the structure for failing or weakened connections. The Contractor, when so directed by the Engineer, shall adequately repair or reinforce connections found to be defective, unsound or failing. The Engineer shall direct and/or approve methods and materials used for repairing member connections. Payment will be in accordance with "Change in the Work." 2. After thoroughly cleaning and preparing inside surfaces, the Engineer or her representative shall inspect the surfaces for pits to be filled. The Contractor, when so directed by the Owner, shall adequately fill the pits by welding and then grinding smooth. The Engineer shall direct and/or approve method and materials used for repairing the pits. This work shall be considered incidental, with no additional compensation. D. Welding. 1. Welders shall be qualified under American Welding Society (AWS) Structural Welding Code D1.1 with shielded metal arc welding procedures. 2. Welding shall be performed in accordance with AWS Structural Welding Code D1.1. 3. Steel used for any accessory to be welded to the tank shall comply with ASTM A36 Group One carbon steel with a minimum yield point of 36,000 psi. 4. Welds shall be visually inspected by a certified welding inspector. Discontinuities shall be repaired at the Contractor's expense. This project was designed by Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN).
