Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Dauphin Island, Alabama. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; for paving for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The MIDDLE BEACH PARK REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT (PROJECT) is located at 1551 Bienville Blvd., Dauphin Island, AL 36528. The existing site is comprised of grass and gravel drives for parking within approximately 5.25 acres of land. The existing bathroom building and shade "pavilion" canopy structure will remain following site redevelopment. In general, wood posts, timber boardwalks and other timber swings, tables and shade shelters will be removed. Items to be salvaged for reinstallation include signs, parking wheel stops (parking blocks), and vehicle swing gates. The existing site entrance/exit kiosk building will be removed as visitors currently use a mobile phone app to pay for parking. Beach access entrance points via timber boardwalks will be maintained along the southern perimeter of the project. The Project consists of redeveloping the parking facilities with asphalt drives, curbs, sidewalks and drainage infrastructure. Stormwater improvements consist of underground detention storage for infiltration in parking medians. Open aggregate gravel paving in parking bays will additionally hold runoff and drain into adjacent detention pipes via underdrains. The base bid improvements will include complete paving of all roadways and access drives. A bid additive alternate will include additional offsite pavement and drainage improvements for improving ponding areas along Bienville Blvd at the project's driveway. A bid deductive alternate will reduce the projects' scope of paving roadways should the bids require reducing costs. Bidding documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office. The project will be awarded based on a BASE BID and ALTERNATIVES. The Issuing Office for the Bidding Document is: Moffatt & Nichol, 11 N. For all further requirements regarding qualifications, bid submittal, procedures, and contract award, refer to the Instructions to Bidders that are included in the Bidding Documents. Prospective Bidders may obtain or examine the Bidding Documents at the Issuing Office on Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with 24-hour notice (send notice to: egranrud@moffattnichol.com), partial sets of Bidding Documents will not be available from the Issuing Office. Neither Owner (Town of Dauphin Island) nor Engineer (Moffatt & Nichol) will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including addenda, if any, obtained from sources other than the Issuing Office. Electronic (PDF) copies of the complete Bidding Documents for this project may be obtained via email at no cost (send request to: pposey@moffattnichol.com). All bidders must comply with requirements of the Contractor's Licensing Law of the State of Alabama and be certified for the type of work on which the proposal is submitted. Each bidder must deposit with his bid, security in the amount, form and subject to the conditions provided in the Instructions to Bidders. All Bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license in the Bid. No bidder may withdraw his bid within 60 days after the opening thereof.
