Renovation of a laboratory facility in Berkeley, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.
Please see the Invitation to Bid regarding how to obtain project documents. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Project Scope includes, but is not limited to, the addition of a new 208/120V, 100A, 3- phase panel. New ducted exhaust to extend from the existing exhaust air valves EAV-153-1 and EAV-153-2 to provide ducted general exhaust of the lab space and also directly exhaust the equipment enclosure. Provide new chilled water fan coil units. Provide seismic anchoring for the existing Revvity Imaging Equipment. Rooms 135, 149, 153 will have limited access. A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) comparable projects in occupied Laboratory buildings with a construction value at award of $350,000 or greater, which includes an electrical scope of $75,000 or greater, completed in the past seven (7) years that demonstrate the bidder's ability to successfully complete the project with respect to project size, cost, use, complexity, etc. DO NOT include projects currently under construction. On-site construction activities within the laboratory spaces (Rooms 135, 149, 153, including their utilities) can only occur from November 24, 2025 through January 16, 2026.All on-site construction, including cleaning of the spaces free of dust and debris and achieving substantial completion, must be completed on or before January 16, 2026. Project Scope includes equipment and furnishings protection requirements. BIDDER QUALIFICATIONS: To allow the University to evaluate bidders, each bidder must submit with its bid, a Contractor's Special Statement of Experience. This Contractor's Special Statement of Experience must be provided on the Contractor's letterhead. If your firm provides inaccurate or incomplete information your firm will be found non-responsive. If your firm receives negative project references they may be found non-responsive. Include the following for each project: (a) project name, (b) project address, (c) owner's name, (d) contract value at award, (e) total Change Order value, (f) completion date, (g) Owner's Representative email address and current phone number, (h) electrical scope description and construction value and (i) describe how project is comparable to project being bid. List all projects in occupied buildings projects on all UC Campuses and National Labs (LBNL, LLNL) the bidder has completed or currently working within the last 5 years, if any. Must not have been assessed liquidated damages in excess of $5,000 at UC Berkeley or any National Lab (LBNL, LLNL) in the past five (5) years. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: The successful Bidder will be required to have the following California current and active contractor's license at the time of submission of the Bid: Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $15 per hour) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
