Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Victoria, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
The works to be constructed under this Contract generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Repair of three concrete pedestrian and cycling bridges along the E&N Regional Trail at Hereward Road, Helmcken Road, and Island Hwy (4-Mile). All three bridges were installed in 2010 and are of similar style and construction, consisting of two double-tee concrete girders with asphalt surfaces bearing on concrete abutments. All three bridges are experiencing varying degrees of longitudinual cracking in the girder legs (webs) at the bearing areas. Stantec Consulting Ltd. completed condition assessments and concrete scanning in May 2024 and believe the cracking is likely caused by a lack on confinement reinforcement of the prestressed strands. This work includes the repair of any existing cracks (e.g., epoxy injection, grouting, sealant, etc.) and installation of epoxied FRP U-wrap sheets at the bearing ends of the girder legs. Details are presented in the Stantec drawing package. Work includes all site preparation, permitting, traffic control, equipment, health and safety, and materials and labour.
