Site work for a development in Victoria, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a development.

Phillips Arm Conservation Area is located 55 kilometers north of Campbell River, at the intersection of Phillips Arm and Cordero Channel. An onsite cleanup effort aims to remove derelict structures and debris while minimizing disturbance to the site’s natural features. This property is boat-access only, with an access point located along the shoreline at: 50.488079, -125.352387. The property contains collapsing sheds, an abandoned mobile home with hazardous materials (see Scope of Work for details), scattered metal equipment, and wood piles. The cleanup will prioritize removing hazardous and non-compostable material and debris from the site. The successful candidate will work closely with the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC) West Coast Program Team to ensure that all activities align with best practices, safety standards, and project timelines. Project Objectives: Remove all structures and debris as displayed in Figure 1 (Phillips Arm Feature Location Map). Minimize environmental disturbance. The contractor will use the existing access points and will use all reasonable measures available to reduce the impact of equipment and operation on the site’s ecological values, including minimizing tree removal or damage to vegetation throughout all phases of the project. Ensure compliance with all Provincial and Federal regulations related to the handling of hazardous materials as identified in Hazardous Materials Inspection Report for the Southern Shore of Phillips Arm (File No:Z0002-2216.01, dated February 20, 2025) Scope of Work: The selected proponent will be responsible for: Transportation logistics: coordination and provision of transportation, including barge services. Demolition and disposal of structures and debris, including: sheds, mobile trailer, and non-organic debris. After demolition, the contractor may choose to leave organic materials (e.g., untreated and unpainted wood) onsite in a safe manner for natural decomposition. The contractor is responsible for providing all necessary equipment and materials, and ensuring that all work is performed by qualified personnel in compliance with applicable regulations. The location and pictures of features to be removed can be found in Appendix A (Figure 1. Phillips Arm Feature Location Map) and Appendix B (Features for Removal at Phillips Arm). Develop and implement Safe Work Procedures (SWP) for hazardous materials removal. Refer to Hazardous Materials Inspection Report for the Southern Shore of Phillips Arm (File No: Z0002-2216.01, dated February 20, 2025). Planning and implementation of practices to minimize environmental disturbance during site cleanup. Development of a site-specific Health and Safety Plan. Plan must be shared with NCC prior to commencement of on-site activities. Documents can be obtained from https://natureconservancy.bidsandtenders.ca/
