Renovation of a museum in Bloomington, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.
Background McLean County Museum of History traces its roots back to 1892, the year the McLean County Historical Society was founded. It is a nationally accredited award-winning museum with five permanent exhibit galleries and two rotating galleries. This educational institution is dedicated to telling the rich story of McLean County through programs which serve people of all ages. The museum features seven exhibit galleries, preserves more than 18,000 objects, makes available more than 15,000 rare and hard-to-find books on local history and genealogy, and manages 2,000 feet of historical papers and images in its archives. Scope Of Work This project includes but is not limited to the following: o Replacement of current chiller system air handling unit in the "Farm Gallery" (Unit #1) and "Art Storage" (Unit #2) with an alternate bid for "Room B5 Storage" (Unit #3). See attached drawings. o Units are to be base level heat pump air handlers. Dehumidifying or humidifying not requested. o Local unit controls only. o Identify necessary modifications to ductwork, electrical systems, and plumbing connections and complete any changes needed to accommodate new units. o Provide a project timeline for start and completion. o Disconnect, remove and dispose (recycling preferred) of two existing heat pump air handlers in two different mechanical closets and all components that will not be used for the new systems. o Temporary sealing of existing chiller piping during replacement to prevent infiltration of debris or contaminants. o Installation of electrical, plumbing and duct connections to be completed by awarded contractor. o Pressure test of existing chiller lines to ensure they are free of any potential leaks and repair of any leaks found. (No known leaks at this time.) Chiller lines are to be reused after leak test and flushing. o All equipment, materials, tools and equipment needed to perform the scope of work will be the awarded contractor's responsibility to supply. o Daily cleanup of construction debris. o Manufacturer recommended startup of new cooling systems. o In-service for Museum and County Maintenance Staff on operation and maintenance upon completion. o Provide all unit maintenance and warranty documentation, paper or digital, upon completion of the project. o Replacement of condensate pumps where needed. o Coordinate with Museum staff to minimize disruption to museum operations during installation. o To provide your team with the necessary access and support, a museum staff member will be on-site in the location while work is being completed. The Museum will work with your team's schedule to provide the on-site staff member. o To protect the items in the spaces from any potential damage, our staff will prepare the work areas and move or relocate items as needed. The contractor is to make best efforts to minimize dust and debris in the work areas, along with using caution when moving equipment in and out of spaces. o View attachments on pages 13 and 14 Bid description- Mail or deliver two (2) paper response copies and one electronic media copy (thumb drive) of the Proposal pages found in this Propsal Packet, along with all other Proposal requirements herein stated, to: McLean County Administrator, Room 401, 115 East Washington Street, Bloomington, Illinois 61701 Last Day for Questions Tuesday, September 2nd , 2025 @ 4:00 p.m
