The main driveway entering Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, (2450 Line 9, Bradford, ON) provides access to the property for Conservation Authority staff, visitors and service vehicles. The roadway is comprised of a gravel surface with ditches. It is beyond its service life and requires redevelopment to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow and reduce impacts arising from seasonal changes and weather events (eg. frost heaving, stormwater management). The Gatehouse building located at the north end of the driveway is no longer used, and the associated intersection does not provide adequate traffic flow management for vehicles entering and exiting the property. This intersection requires redevelopment to ensure safe, efficient and coordinated traffic flow for vehicles and pedestrians, and to facilitate school bus access to the new Scanlon Creek Nature Centre (under construction). The successful bidder's team will be required to act as the Conservation Authority's agent throughout this project. This will include preparing drawings and specifications, preparing and coordinating permit applications to agencies having jurisdiction, coordinating construction contractor procurement, and providing contract oversight for the construction phase(s) of the project. Redevelopment design and specifications for the driveway and gatehouse intersection are to be completed in 2025. Construction contractor procurement and project construction will be completed in one or more phases, as recommended by the Consultant, and are anticipated to be initiated in 2025, subject to budget and weather constraints.
