The project on behalf of Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Alaska Military Youth Academy requires upgrading facility drainage systems to properly manage the rainwater and snowmelt. A recent inspection of the warehouse site has identified ongoing water intrusion issues. These are primarily caused by the finished floor of the warehouse being lower than the surrounding asphalt surfaces. On both the east and west sides of the building, the existing pavement slopes inward for approximately six feet, channeling surface water directly toward the foundation. To address this issue, this project will involve removing the affected asphalt, re-grading the area to redirect water away from the building and installing new asphalt. The project will also include cleaning and upgrading the sump system inside the warehouse to help manage internal drainage. These targeted improvements are intended to prevent future water intrusion and protect the structural integrity of the facility.
