Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Boulder, Colorado. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
Reference Number 0000397225 The City of Boulder ("City"), by and through its Open Space and Mountain Parks Department (OSMP), is seeking a contractor to implement repairs and maintenance to two gravel-surface trails that serve as access roads for emergency and administrative purposes: Sanitas Valley Trail and Mesa / Shadow Canyon South Trail (aka South Mesa). See the enclosed scope of work for additional information on the project. This right to reject includes the right to reject any bidder who appears on one or more lists designating the bidder as a debarred or suspended entity or individual for other public procurements. Project Site 1: South Mesa a. Project Location: Accessed from South Mesa Trailhead at 4111 Eldorado Springs Dr, Boulder, CO. See enclosed project map for more information. b. Scope of Work: The Contractor will implement repairs along a 2.3-mile section of Mesa and Shadow Canyon South Trails - a gravel-surface recreational trail that also serves as an access road for emergency and administrative vehicles. See the enclosed map for the specific work sections. The road was re-engineered and heavily repaired in 2017, and is in need of maintenance to address erosion and water drainage issues to bring it back to standards. The work includes: i. Re-surfacing washed-out sections of the trail with aggregate base course - grade and compact gravel material to specifications. ii. Repairing rolling grade dips that are no longer draining water off of the trail due to being silted in and the crest being worn down. iii. Addition of new rolling dips to the road to improve drainage. iv. Excavating sediment out of drainage ditches adjacent to the road. See the enclosed map and construction notes for complete information on the scope of work, and the attached bid form for a summation of quantities. c. Schedule: Due to the elevation, shade, and solar aspect of the project and due to fall and early winter snow/rain events, the contractor shall complete South Mesa prior to Project Site 2 (Sanitas Valley) to limit potential for weather-related impacts to constructionProject Site 2: Sanitas Valley a. Project Location: Accessed at entry gate at 101 Sunshine Canyon Dr, Boulder, CO. See enclosed project map for more information. b. Scope of Work: The Contractor will implement repairs along a 1-mile section of Sanitas Valley Trails - a gravel-surface recreational trail that also serves as an access road for emergency and administrative vehicles. The work section of Sanitas Valley Trail is between Mapleton Ave and the junction with East Ridge Trail - see attached map for more information. Sanitas Valley Trail was re-engineered and heavily repaired in 2015, and is in need of maintenance to address erosion and water drainage issues to bring it back to standards. The work includes: i. Re-surfacing washed-out sections of the trail with aggregate base course - grade and compact gravel material to specifications. ii. Repairing rolling grade dips that are no longer draining water off of the trail due to being silted in and the crest being worn down. iii. Addition of new rolling dips to the road to improve drainage. iv. Excavating sediment out of drainage ditches adjacent to the road. v. Minor re-alignment of a 120-ft section of the road. vi. Construction of rock check dams in one ditch section. vii. Minor work items including removal of bedrock (one location), seeding, and erosion control blanket. viii. Cleaning sediment from a short paved section of the road. Schedule: The contractor shall complete this project after Project Site 1 (South Mesa). Sanitas Valley Trail is generally open to the sun and south-facing, making it more favorable to returning to work after fall/winter rain/snow events.
