The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) seeks a qualified Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) for multiple renovation projects on campus that will be used by the Sundance Fillm Festival (SFF). Starting in January 2027, SFF is relocating to Boulder, Colorado and will be using facilities on the CU Boulder campus for portions of the festival. It is anticipated that two to three venues on campus will be utilized by SFF for film screenings and events. In preparation for these events, the university is working with SFF to make modifications to specific campus buildings to meet SFF's needs. Campus venues being considered for use by SFF include Macky Auditorium, Roe Green Theatre at the University Theatre building, Muenzinger E050, and Chemistry 140. The general scope of work is focused on audio/visual (AV) upgrades (including cable pathways, new electrical loads and structural modifications for to hang new AV systems) and may also include accessibility improvements, though the work will vary depending on specific location. The intent of this conference is to have CU Boulder staff discuss the project. Firms preparing submittals must attend and sign-in to have their submittals accepted. The State reserves the right to reject any or all proposals on the basis of being unresponsive to this RFP or for failure to disclose requested information. Floor and decorative covering workers' work will includes measuring, cutting, fabricating, fitting, installing to be cemented, tacked or otherwise applied to its base and/or underlayment(s); whether used either as a decorative covering, topping or as an acoustical appliance such as carpets, sheet rubber, sheet linoleum, sheet vinyl, laminate floors and laminate floor systems, rubber tile, linoleum tile, asphalt tile, cork flooring, interlocking tile, vinyl tile, vinyl composition tile, composition in sheet or tile form, top set base of any kind including profile rubber base, and all derivatives of above; artificial turf and its derivatives which includes the operation, maintenance and repair of the following equipment when used in the installation of artificial turf and its derivatives (forklifts, air compressors and any attachments, skid steer, skip loader, utility cart/top dresser and lay-more ride on sweeper); all resilient seamless materials such as epoxy, polyurethane, plastics, resinous and liquid flooring and their derivatives; installation of solid wood and solid glue down wood; The fitting of all devices for the attachment of the above materials and the fitting of all decorative or protective trim to and adjoining the above materials this also includes but is not limited to sanding, substrate preparation and the application of all self-leveling, trowelable and board underlayments; the removal of the aforementioned installed material from its base and/or underlayments as required; the cleaning of rugs or carpets and all drapery, make-up and the installation of drapes and window treatments; the application of moisture barrier and/or membrane in connection with the installation and flooring covered above. Supporting infrastructure for a Dolby Atmos/Live sound system, with over 100 speaker locations, including overhead and surround configurations. o Rigging and structural modifications for a cinema screen and stage channels located downstage of the proscenium, with consideration for sightlines, safety, and aesthetics. o Electrical and power distribution upgrades to support the added system load. o Sound mitigation solutions for optimal performance and minimal disruption to adjacent spaces. o Improve ADA seating capacity throughout the auditorium. o Integration of a temporary Dolby Vision Projection Booth at the lip of the balcony, necessary for the Sundance Film Festival's high-quality visual experience and to accommodate the specific requirements of the Dolby Atmos and Vision system. o Modifications to the orchestra pit to improve accessibility for artists and enhance performance capabilities. o Supporting infrastructure for a Dolby Atmos system, including overhead and surround sound zones. o Soundproofing and acoustic separation between the stage/performance area and the adjacent scene shop. o Modifications to support improved ADA seating capacity and artist accessibility, with emphasis on stage-level access. o Evaluation and upgrade of infrastructure, including rigging, electrical, and acoustics. o Construction of a cinema screen enclosure on the stage to house stage channels and hide projection infrastructure. o Supporting infrastructure for a Dolby Atmos cinema system, including overhead and side surround speakers. o Review and plot implementation of acoustic treatment and structural support as needed. o Enhancement of ADA seating areas, ensuring multiple options and optimal sightlines.
