Site work for a transportation facility in North Bay, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for site work for a transportation facility.

* Tender was cancelled. The entire scope of work, as outlined in the project drawings, will be strategically carried out over the course of 2025 & 2026 Calendar Year. The final completion by November 30, 2026. Immediately after project award, the Successful Respondent is expected to order equipment, material and items with long lead time. ONTC expects the contractor to complete the procurement activities from Awarding till March 31, 2026 (or before), with the intention to begin construction as soon as the weather allows. And the construction will involve development of the Wheel Storage Area. This includes site drainage improvements, reconstruction of retaining walls, installation of the ramp and axle storage, as well as the necessary compressed air line infrastructure, etc. It will also include construction of the remaining components of the project, the RIP (Repair in Place) Revitalization. Upon funding confirmation by March 31, 2026, the project will proceed toward final completion, with the handover targeted for no later than November 30, 2026. Structural Upgrade 1. Demolish and replace RIP Track 1 & 2 Top Slabs 2. Construct a new wheel storage slab with embedded track and drainage 3. Construct foundations for new lunchroom, electrical and mechanical buildings 4. Build concrete slabs for seacan shelters 5. Install foundations for new light poles and utility poles Civil Upgrades 1. Decommission existing sanitary system and install a new sanitary line. 2. Install new water line connections. 3. Install, relocate, and replace catch basins. 4. Resurface and adjust roadways and ramps per auto-turn analysis. 5. Raise section of wheel storage area to new design elevations. 6. Excavate and dispose of contaminated soils. Track Upgrade 1. Remove and shorten RIP Tracks 1 and 2, install bumping posts. 2. Replace ballast on RIP Tracks 3 and 4. 3. Install embedded tracks in RIP (1&2) and wheel storage areas. 4. Build jacking slabs and concrete platforms. Electrical Upgrades 1. Replace and upgrade electrical panels and distribution. 2. Relocate overhead power lines to underground conduits. 3. Install lighting for RIP tracks, access ways, wheel storage, and shelters. 4. Install additional welding plugs and connections in seacans. 5. Update load connections to new transformer. Mechanical Upgrades 1. Install dedicated air compressor system for RIP area and brake shack. 2. Install piping including connections to seacan shelters. 3. Install washroom fixtures and safety stations. Architectural Upgrades 1. Replace existing RIP shack with new seacan shelter. 2. Build new lunchroom facility with revised design. 3. Install emergency shower and eyewash stations. 4. Setup mechanical and electrical service shacks. Scope of Work: **Note: The following list of items is to be used as a guideline only and may not include all the tasks to complete the work. 1. Contractor is responsible for storing all the ordered materials and equipment at their location following the storing standard and maintain those before bringing in to the construction site during installation, mobilization or commissioning 2. This project involves multiple disciplinarians- Operation, maintenance and track team. Contractor is responsible for maintaining proactive and respectful relationships across the team 3. Before mobilizing, contractor is to confirm the construction stage plan, master point and communicate with the stakeholders accordingly. 4. Contractor is required to facilitate temporary movement of the existing equipment, materials or structure during construction 5. Depending on the area of construction, contractor may need to relocate their master point during construction 6. Most of the construction activities will be adjacent to the Rail Tracks, coordinate with the Track Support team to ensure flag support all the time as per ONTC Policy 7. At any point during the construction contractor must not drive any equipment over the track and must follow the Work Restriction Divisions 8. To make proper staging, contractor should plan on completing the stages and work in sequences, so that the operation can utilize the finished portion when it's safe and ready 9. When working near the wheel storage area contractor must be aware that the Wheel Shop will be operational and accommodate the forklift/traffic access to and from the Wheel Shop 10. Access road towards yard office is the only road to and from the yard office and must be open during construction as it's also the emergency evacuation route from yard office. Contractor may require to perform afterhours construction activities if they plan to block the access road at any point of the construction 11. When the construction moves to the RIP area, the contractor must coordinate with the RIP employees and adjust the schedule accordingly. ONTC has 4 Repair Tracks and contractor must strategically plan on completing the construction with zero or minimum interruptions The Respondent shall provide with its Proposal an agreement to bond issued by a surety company undertaking to provide a fifty percent (50%) Performance Bond and a fifty percent (50%) Labour and Material Bond (the "Contract Securities") in the form prescribed by the Construction Act, both to be provided to ONTC by the Successful Respondent following award of the contract.
