PAVE PARKING AREA, JOHN W. FLANNAGAN DAM & RESERVOIR, HAYSI, DICKENSON COUNTY, VA The contractor shall provide all materials, equipment, labor, layout of work features, and supervision necessary to complete paving work. Construction will include applying a tack coat conforming to VDOT Item 310-1 at a rate of 0.10 gallons per square yard on all resurfaced areas, followed by placement of a 2-inch surface course of asphalt concrete pavement conforming to VDOT Item 315-1. Paving will begin at the entrance to the project office from the main road and continue through the main office parking area, totaling 4,000 square yards of full-depth pavement over an existing gravel base. The contractor must ensure proper drainage with no standing water and prepare the site to eliminate low or high spots. In areas without an existing base, the contractor shall place and compact an additional 2 to 4 inches of aggregate base per VDOT Item 309-1, followed by a two-layer asphalt base course per VDOT Item 315-1, BM-2. A tack coat shall be applied at 0.10 gallons per square yard, and a 1-inch asphalt surface course conforming to VDOT Item 315-1, SM-2-A shall be placed over all base material. Asphalt shall be tapered to adjoining roads and parking areas. A reference drawing is included, though not to scale and buildings shown are no longer present.
