Renovation of a power facility in Madison, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the renovation of a power facility.
In general the work consists of : Replace air interrupting circuit breakers with new vacuum interrupter circuit breakers. Existing Breakers are westinghouse 5kv 50dh150 breakers. Install all wire and cable as necessary for a complete installation as shown on the drawings. Replace electromechanical relays with microprocessor-based relays. Replace the metering with an electronic multi-function meter. Incandescent indicator lights to be replaced or added with led push to test indicating type lights. Switches for lockout (86), maintenance mode, and local/remote control to be added. Replace and add test switches as indicated. Replace switchgear control power transformer (cpt). Use a single sheet of sheet metal to cover penetrations from existing protection and control Equipment and for mounting new equipment. Load engineer-provided relay settings into the relays. Install wiring for zone selective interlock (zsi) scheme between breakers. Provide commissioning assistance for new devices. Tie new meter into bas system. Install modbus cable from meter to bas control panel. Replace 48v system including batteries and charger providing control power to the switchgear. Batteries to be installed and tested prior to cutting over 48v control power. All phasing to be coordinated with the owner. One bus outage will occur at a time Replace enclosure ventilation fan. Replace 120v breakers supplied from the cpt Supply, connect, and remove temporary generator to supply the biotran load during construction Affecting the biotran feeder. Biotran load is a 30a, 208v load. Fuel to be supplied by the contractor. 14" 240v turbine vent fan and thermostat in the switchgear to be replaced in kind. This project is being let using a new single trade bidding and contracting process. When 85% or more of the construction cost of a project could be completed by a single trade contractor (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or fire protection), the department may bid and contract all work of that construction project directly to a single trade contractor. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, responsible, certified single trade mep contractor. Single trade mep contractors may bid on single trade projects up to their current division of work certification level for that trade. All work for this project will be awarded to a single trade electrical contractor. Bidders shall submit a single base bid for all work. Bid guarantee in the amount of 10% of the bid must accompany each bid submitted.
