Renovation of a library in Pasadena, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
This is a Public Works Project under Labor Code Section 1771. La Pintoresca library was built in 1930 and was designated as historic building in 1986 according to the city of Pasadena California historical resources inventory database. The engineers estimated bid range is $120,000 - $140,000 The City of Pasadena, Department of Public Works is looking for a qualified contractor to replace glass and sash for 58 existing windows, in-kind for the historic La Pintoresca library. All other window features including header, sill, jambs, casing shall remain as is. All windows to remain in existing locations. Interior side of all wood sash to be stained and exterior side of all wood sash to be painted. Existing security bars will be removed to allow the glass/shash replacement and will be reinstalled once glass/shash replacement is completed. Plans have already been reviewed by the city of Pasadena permit center and have already been approved. Also, permit fees have been paid. The selected contractor will be responsible to stop by the city of Pasadena permit center, fill out all necessary paperwork and obtain the permit and stamped plans (hard copy) from permit center. Also, the selected contractor will be responsible to schedule inspections with the city of Pasadena building & safety, planning and historic review divisions at various stages of the work and obtain the final inspection approval and the certificate of occupancy at the conclusion of the work. Background La Pintoresca library was built in 1930 and was designated as historic building in 1986 according to the city of Pasadena California historical resources inventory database. A visual assessment of the existing windows at the La Pintoresca library reveals tremendous amount of sun rot, dry rot and water damage. Due to the age and the amount of damage, along with the many layers of paint, the city of Pasadena public works department decided to replace the sashes and glass in lieu of replacing the complete window units to avoid damage to the exterior stucco and the interior trim. The sash replacement shall keep the historical look of the building by matching the existing sashes.
