Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Carteret, New Jersey. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The site of the work to be performed under the Contract is located on Lafayette Street between the intersections of Sharot Street and Roosevelt Avenue within the Borough of Carteret, Middlesex County, New Jersey. The existing sanitary sewer within Lafayette Street that is being replaced under this Contract is failing and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. The Contractor will be required to maintain sanitary sewer service to the effected residents after issuance with the Notice to Proceed. The Contractor will be required to maintain service to residents by maintaining the existing 6-inch diameter sanitary sewer main by any means necessary but not limited to using a jet vac truck to clean the line of debris and snake the line as necessary from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed until the new 8-inch main is completed. The work includes the furnishing of all labor, materials and equipment necessary to completely abandon and replace the sanitary sewer within Lafayette Street, as shown on the Drawings and as described in the Specifications. The work shall include removal and disposal of the existing sanitary manhole and sewer, installation of new realigned sanitary sewer approximately 300 linear feet of 8-inch diameter PVC pipe and two (2) manholes and sewer connection to the existing sanitary manhole on Roosevelt Avenue, reconstruction of the existing sanitary manhole, installation of 6-inch diameter PVC sanitary laterals with cleanout, replacement of an existing sanitary manhole, and reconstruction of concrete curb, sidewalk, and aprons. Work shall also include excavation, backfilling, dewatering, site restoration, and traffic control as shown on the drawings and specified herein. The work shall be completed within 60-calendar days of the Contractor's receipt of written Notice to Proceed. No bid will be received unless in writing on the forms furnished, and unless accompanied by bid security in the form of a bid bond, cashier's check, or a certified check made payable to the Borough of Carteret in an amount equal to 10% of the amount of the total bid, but not exceeding $20,000. Doc note: Alternatively, prospective bidders may pick up hardcopies of the Contract Documents upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of $100.00 for each set of specifications and drawings at the Office of the Engineer, French & Parrello Associates, 1800 Route 34, Suite 101, Wall Township, NJ 07719. Bid documents cannot be obtained at the Carteret Borough Memorial Municipal Building. No interpretations of the meaning of the Contract Drawings, Specifications or other Contract Documents will be made to any bidder orally. Any request for interpretations shall be made in writing, addressed to French & Parrello Associates, 1800 Route 34, Suite 101, Wall, New Jersey 07719, and, to be given consideration, must be received at least twelve (12) days - Saturdays, Sundays and holidays excepted - prior to the date fixed for the opening of bids. No bids will be received after the time and date specified, and no bids will be received by mail. Bids shall be received by courier service (date and time recorded) or shall be hand delivered. The Owner shall award the Contract or reject all bids within 60 days of bid opening, except that the bids of any bidders who consent thereto may, at the request of the Owner, be held for consideration for such longer period as may be agreed.
