Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Baltimore, Maryland. Completed plans call for the demolition of a 185,000-square-foot, one-story above grade, 662-bed, 182-room educational facility.
MEDCO has contracted with Gilbane Building Company to complete the abatement and demolition of the existing dormitory and the construction of a new 185,000 SF, 662-bed tower. Exterior improvements include incorporating a pedestrian bridge over the Herring Run tributary and woodland area, a green roof, sitework, hardscapes, and a bioretention pond. Interior spaces include one hundred eighty-two (182) dorm units, lounges, fitness rooms, a 10,000 SF dining facility, an Academic Event Professional (AEP)/forum/meeting space, building management and wellness suites. Gilbane Building Company, in its role as Construction Manager, invites interested Trade Contractors to bid on the trade packages listed: 03A Cast In Place Concrete, 05A Miscellaneous Metals, 08A Glass & Glazing, 14A Elevators, 21A Sprinklers, 23A HVAC/Plumbing, 26A Electrical, 31A Caissons, 31B Utilities/Earthwork. Bidders must prequalify online at https://compass-app.com prior to submitting their bid. The project has an overall MBE subcontract participation goal of 35% overall. MBEs must be certified by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) in order to count towards the goal. No other MBE certifications are acceptable. MBE forms, provided in the Procore Bidding Plan Room, must be completed, and submitted with all bid proposals.
