Renovation of a library in Hamilton, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
The Hamilton Public Library (HPL) is seeking to renovate two of their library branches; Concession Library at 565 Concession St. in Hamilton and Sherwood Library located at 467 Upper Ottawa St. in Hamilton. The renovation's objective is to provide a space that better serves the public. The project will include interior architectural work, various mechanical and electrical upgrades, to create more effective program space. Sherwood Library second floor will receive installation of five new glass-enclosed study/meeting rooms, arranged as a central pod within the open area. Each room will include full electrical service, proper ventilation, and all necessary infrastructure to support independent use. The pod will be constructed using glazed partitions around perimeter to maintain visual openness and interior drywall partitions separating the rooms to offer acoustical privacy. Concession Library conversion of an existing main floor alcove into a fully functioning maker space. This will involve enclosing the area with a new glazed wall and integrated doors to define the space. The retrofit will include all required electrical, mechanical, and technological infrastructure to support typical maker space activities and equipment.
